System Log Messages
If you encounter problems using Faximum it is a good idea to
check the System Log
for information on the interaction.
Only the FSA has permission to view the System Log (choose System
Log from the Admin pulldown menu).
Most of the System Log messages are self explanatory. The following
list explains some of the messages. See Manual Pages
for information on the various processes that Faximum uses such as faxsched
and faxlisten.
faxsched Info: fax # / file: bad level field
The server accepted a client fax and then created an invalid control
file. Call technical support for help. See Getting Assistance.
faxsched Fail: faxcico to destination fax # terminated with signal 11
An attempt to send a fax failed with a serious internal error in faxcico
(the fax delivery program).
Call technical support for help. See Getting Assistance.
server Error: Fax failed-renderer failure
Attemp to render a Postscript file that is
not valid Postscript or by rendering a coversheet that makes
references to an invalid font.
faxcico Warning: fax # / file: not on active queue
A user had suspended an active request after the fax scheduler had made
the decision to attempt transmission of the fax. The fax transport
program (faxcico) noticed the request had been suspended and did not
attempt to transmit the fax.
faxcico Info: AT...: command rejected: RING
Initialization of a fax modem by faxlisten for receive failed because
the modem was called part way through the initialization sequence.
Faxlisten will reset itself within 60 seconds.
faxcico Info:
fax #: unknown hangup code
A fax session terminated abnormally. The diagnostic (hangup) code
supplied by the modem was not in those listed in the
standard. Contact the modem manufacturer for a complete list of
hangup codes.
faxcico Info: ATZ: command rejected: ERROR
An attempt to reset a fax modem failed, possibly because an ATZ was
issued at an inapropriate time. The fax software will persist in
attempting to reset the fax modem.
faxcico Info: tx phase D: no response to EOP
No response was received from a remote fax machine after sending a
page. Usual causes are a lost connection or the remote FAX machine
running out of paper.
faxcico Info: read timeout after 120 seconds
A command was issued to the modem and no response was received.
Possible causes are: no modem on this tty port, modem is turned off,
or modem is frozen and must be power cycled.
faxcico Info: Ring detect without successful handshake
The fax modem was called. The attempt to start a session failed
probably because the calling station was not a FAX machine.
faxcico Info: tx phase B: received invalid command
An unexpected or invalid message was received from the remote fax
machine. The fax modem and remote FAX machine may be incompatible
(e.g. defective firmware in either your fax modem or the remote fax machine).
This may also indicate a lost connection.
faxlisten Error: faxcico failed: exit status=300
When faxlisten receives an incoming call, faxlisten starts faxcico to
receive the incoming fax. If this fax reception fails, faxcico will
exit with a status code indicative of the failure. Look for a message
logged faxcico detailing the exact cause of reception failure.
