In order to proceed with the secondary configuration of the FMS (page page 50) and the testing of the software you will need to start the background processes associated with the Faximum Messaging Server.
Note that you can start the background processes without having first obtained a software licence key but you will not be able to send or receive faxes until a key is obtained and installed (see "Activation Key, Obtaining a" on page 28).
The background processes are started automatically whenever the FMS system is rebooted. If you wish to start these processes without rebooting your system then type the following commands (as root).
On SCO OpenServer 5 and SCO UnixWare 7
/etc/init.d/fmsinet start
/etc/init.d/fms start
On Linux
/etc/rc.d/init.d/fmsinet start
/etc/rc.d/init.d/fms start
