Check the Server Software

These steps should only be performed by the FSA or your UNIX system administrator.

Make sure that the server software is running. Do the following:

  1. Log in as root on the server system.
  2. Type: ps -ef | grep fax

  3. Look for the following processes in the returned list. They indicate that the server is running (there can be more than one faxlisten process).

    faxlisten fax-line-n
    faxsched

    where n is the phone line to which the fax modem is connected. Your first fax modem is connected to fax-line-1, your second is connected to fax-line-2, etc.
