The Tariff database contains information about telephone call costs. The Dialing Rule database references entries in this database to indicate costs associated with calls to certain areas placed on certain lines.

The fact that Rate Cost values specify relative costs gives you a lot of flexibility in the way that you identify your rates. For example, if your phone line has no discount during the day and 50% discount during the night, you could specify two rates of 100 and 50. Likewise, if one rate is $0.75 and the other is $0.35 you could specify two rates of 75 and 35.
The highest number identifies the most expensive rate. Faximum ignores Rates with a Rate Cost of 0.
